In 2023, Swiss pri­vate in­sur­ers’ pre­mi­um vol­ume once again ex­pe­ri­enced pleas­ing growth, ac­cord­ing to pro­jec­tions by the Swiss In­sur­ance As­so­ci­a­tion SIA.

The study con­duct­ed by BAK Eco­nom­ics on the eco­nom­ic im­por­tance of the fi­nan­cial sec­tor shows that in­sur­ers will con­tin­ue to be one of the most pro­duc­tive sec­tors of the Swiss econ­o­my in 2022.

Fin­ma com­piles da­ta on busi­ness de­vel­op­ment with­in the in­sur­ance com­pa­nies that fall un­der its su­per­vi­sion and pro­vides an overview of in­dus­try key fig­ures in the In­sur­ance Mar­ket Re­port.

The in­sur­ance mar­ket is high­ly com­pet­i­tive. 2022 saw rough­ly 190 pri­vate in­sur­ers com­pete for the favour of pol­i­cy­hold­ers across five in­sur­ance branch­es.

For Switzer­land as a busi­ness lo­ca­tion, rein­sur­ers are im­por­tant risk car­ri­ers, cap­i­tal providers and tax­pay­ers that make a sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion to ser­vice ex­ports.

The study con­duct­ed by BAK Eco­nom­ics shows that the fi­nan­cial sec­tor re­mains one of the most pro­duc­tive in­dus­tries in the Swiss econ­o­my in 2021.
