Context

The insurance sector has to deal with ever more complex challenges. It will only be able to do so, if it can count on excellently trained specialists and executives that keep abreast of pioneering issues and concepts. The Swiss Insurance Association SIA and the Association for Professional Insurance Education (VBV-AFA) therefore cooperate closely with research and academia. 

Institute for Risk & Insurance

The Institute for Risk & Insurance is a center of competence for economic and sociological issues in the insurance industry, making an important contribution to the professional qualification of specialists in the insurance sector through its Business Administration bachelor programme focusing on Risk & Insurance and through a broad offer of advanced courses and specialist conferences.
In addition, the Center offers application-orientated research and consultancy services.

Institut für Versicherungswirtschaft

The Institut für Versicherungswirtschaft (IVW) (Institute for Insurance Economics) is an innovative institute at the university of St. Gallen offering research, advanced training and advisory services. The IVW focuses on general management, insurance marketing, financial services and integrated risk management. Two strategic business units – trend monitoring plus organisational and personnel development – mainly serve to transfer knowledge.

Swiss Insurance Medicine

Swiss Insurance Medicine (SIM) is the name of the Swiss insurance medicine interest group. The group works to promote quality control in insurance medicine and to improve the quality of education in this domain. Active in all lines of insurance, the group contributes to the education of doctors, medical experts and specialists beyond the realm of medicine.

Academy of Swiss Insurance Medicine

The Academy of Swiss Insurance Medicine (asim) the Basel university centre of competence and services at the University Hospital of Basel. asim has set up a comprehensive and diverse educational offering at the university’s faculty of medicine which is geared towards medical students (education) on the one hand and doctors (advanced training) and specialists on the other.

Hochschule für Wirtschaft Zürich

The Hochschule für Wirtschaft Zürich (HWZ) is Switzerland’s largest university that exclusively offers part-time courses on business-related topics. It runs a broad range of bachelor’s and master’s courses, more than 100 diploma and certificate courses, doctoral programmes and bespoke corporate training. The HWZ is institutionally accredited by the Swiss Accreditation Council. The CAS in Legal Protection Management (in German) is offered in conjunction with the SIA’s legal protection committee.
