Animal insurance
Animal insurance covers the financial loss incurred by the death of an animal or having to destroy it to relieve inhumane suffering. Medical insurance policies are also available for certain species of animals.
Pure animal insurance policies are offered by only one insurance company in Switzerland. Some companies additionally offer cattle or pet policies.
Horses, ponies and other solidungulates
Mortality and disability risk as the result of accident or accident, illness and disease can be insured for this group of animals. Medical insurance to cover treatment costs can also be taken out as well; there are a number of variants available which can be adapted to individual needs.
Dogs and cats
Pet insurance is based on the same principle as horse and pony insurance. Apart from mortality risk, coverage can also be extended to theft and disappearance.
Cattle and small livestock
Only mortality insurance is available for cattle and small livestock. This coverage is available throughout the year (annual policies) or can be limited to the summer pasture season or can be purchased solely to cover exhibitions or fairs.
